We need all SOAR students to consider doing a little community service on either Friday or Saturday, this week, by picking up litter and debris by and along the trails of the aqueduct starting from the corner of Avenue K, 55th Street W. We want to try to get as many people involved as possible in getting the awareness of water pollution, especially in storm run-offs leading to our aquatic ecosystems.
Everyone needs to have a minimum amount of community service before they leave SOAR, so why not start now? It will look great on anyone's college application especially in trying to eliminate storm run-off. Spend just even half an hour picking up trash, and you'll do the aquatic wildlife a life-saving favor.
There may even be some extra credit involved in you are going.
